This Cuckoo Clock by August Schwer won clock of the year in 2008 and its no mystery as to why. This large clock includes details typical of the Black Forest such as a shingle roof, partial timber frame building, and a mill wheel, which turns when the clock strikes. Black Forest homes are often isolated buildings thinly spread out over the hilly countryside. The bell tower is a wonderful characteristic of these types of houses as they are used to signal when there is an emergency. This clock also features farm animals and pets, along with children sitting on a bench. Everything is hand painted and hand made from wood in the Black Forest region. Manual night shutoff and a cuckoo call every half and full hour.
