His collaboration with the established Maison Daum for this chandelier was therefore inevitable. ‘‘The chandelier came about from a desire to highlight the beauty of Daum crystal’s intensely layered colour and depth. I felt this was best shown when light floods through the crystal. From that knowledge I built up the idea of a beautiful chandelier where the crystal could be seen at its most magnificent. For the Eden chandelier my ideas came from the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The very idea that Daum crystal is so tempting it becomes irresistible….The most delicious of sculptures, a bright rosy red apple, is buried within the leaves glowing temptingly and becomes the surprise and completion of this creation.”
